Rumours

I keep thinking that the real world is going to get better than high school. That once I leave this place, I will never have to deal with rumours again. But today, I read an article that begs to differ. There is this new media frenzy where people have stopped buying meat from this one firm, because this idiot doesn't know shit. I don't know if you have heard, but people are going crazy (and not in a good way) over 'pink slime'. What had happened was that there was a break out of e coli or something of that sort. So the guy in this firm, in order to prevent it from happening, came up with the idea to spray ammonia gas over the meat. FYI, ammonia gas is not the same as ammonia liquid. This tv show, then proceeded to question the use of ammonia before getting their facts right. Instead of using gas, they used liquid to clean the meat. And with that, this sort of pink slime came out. Which did not happen at the firm, because they used the gas. Now, they had to shut down three of their factories, and fire 700 people. Just because this idiot did not get his facts straight. This wasn't some silly high school rumour, but a dire rumour that has ruined the lives of many. It's amazing what one person can do. Amazingly horrid. This other firm tried doing the same thing, but they didn't do it the right way, so some people ended up dying. But as for the firm, where there are no reported incidents of death due to the eating of their meat, they have to suffer the consequences. Think about it, would you rather have safer meat (which does not harm you if you do it the right way), which is safer because of a chemical, or would you have people dying everywhere because of e coli and it's deathly friends? A lot of people are complaining about processed meat - what else are you going to expect when there is such a high demand for it. People at least get meat. Think of all the poor people who have to solely rice and vegetables, or even less than that. Sorry...I just needed to rant about this whole ridiculous situation. Then again, this is just my opinion and you are entitled to yours.
